I noticed that it is quite common for people to be completely out of the loop for health care. Optometrists may be the only provider they see, for example at the onset of presbyopia. I often take a few minutes to discuss the link between health and maintaining healthy vision. And I'll measure their blood pressure, especially if they have entered middle age.
