Family Practice with Obstetrics

I am a Mad as Hell Doctor because I went in to Family Practice to take care of whole patients, whole families, in their communities, through their whole lives, birth to death. Yet I am continually pressured to be “productive”, push people through like widgets, see more people faster, see people for “one thing only”, use templates instead of truly engaging with my patient and their family: I resist this pressure, but I see the toll as good doctors burn out and care is truncated and shallow. The system rewards speed over depth and is costing lives.
